Do's and dont's for destination weddings

For a beach wedding, it's essential to keep your makeup fresh, natural, and long-lasting to withstand the elements while still looking stunning. Here are some simple makeup dos and don'ts for a beach wedding:

Dos:

1. Do opt for a lightweight, waterproof foundation or tinted moisturizer to even out your skin tone without feeling heavy.

2. Do use a primer to help your makeup adhere better and last longer, especially in humid conditions.

3. Do choose waterproof or water-resistant mascara to prevent smudging or running, especially if you expect to shed tears of joy.

4. Do go for a natural, bronzed look with warm-toned eyeshadows and a touch of highlighter for a sun-kissed glow.

5. Do use a setting spray to lock your makeup in place and ensure it stays fresh throughout the ceremony and reception.

6. Do opt for a long-wearing lip stain or matte lipstick in a nude or soft pink shade to complement the beachy vibe without constant touch-ups.

7. Do keep your eye makeup simple with soft, neutral shades and avoid heavy eyeliner or dramatic winged looks that can smudge in the heat.

8. Do choose waterproof or gel-based eyeliner for definition that won't smudge or fade, focusing on tightlining rather than thick lines.

9. Do use cream or liquid blush for a natural flush that blends seamlessly into the skin and lasts longer than powder formulas.

10. Do touch up your makeup throughout the day, especially after swimming or sweating, using blotting papers to absorb excess oil before reapplying powder if needed.

Don'ts:

1. Don't use heavy or cakey foundation that can melt or feel uncomfortable in the heat.

2. Don't overdo the shimmer or glitter, as it can look too intense under the bright sun and may accentuate sweat or oiliness.

3. Don't forget to set your makeup with a translucent powder to prevent shine without adding extra layers of product.

4. Don't skip sunscreen! Make sure to apply a broad-spectrum SPF to protect your skin from sun damage, and choose makeup products with added SPF when possible.

5. Don't wear sticky lip gloss that can attract sand and hair in the breeze, opting instead for a matte or satin finish lipstick.

6. Don't neglect your brows. Fill them in lightly with a waterproof pencil or powder to frame your face without looking overdone.

7. Don't apply too much product in one go. Layer your makeup gradually to build coverage without cakiness or heaviness.

8. Don't forget to blend well, especially around the jawline and hairline, to avoid any visible demarcation lines between your face and neck.

9. Don't use heavy contouring or bronzing techniques that can look unnatural in natural sunlight.

10. Don't wait until the last minute to apply your makeup. Give yourself plenty of time to allow each layer to set properly and make any necessary touch-ups before the ceremony begins.
